Karen Hamilton, Sacramento, California artist, has been painting and drawing since childhood. Educated in Minnesota, Oregon and the San Francisco Art Institute, her images have always reflected her interest in nature: the landscape, animals, trees, and flowers. Her travels and long-time interest in Zen Buddhism have recently inspired her to focus more specifically on Asian and Buddhist themes. She says that adding collaged items to the paint encourages more “accidents” to happen in the studio, resulting in more spontaneous and abstract paintings.
